Vivica A. Fox, June Ambrose and Angela Simmons are all names you would expect to hear when discussing a movie premiere or a fashion show, however these three ladies and so many more were out for a much greater purpose.

This past Friday marked the 42 annual BRAG (Black Retailers Action Group) awards. Heavy-hitters from the world of retail, fashion, and entertainment were out in abundance to honor minorities who are interested in getting into the retail business.

Tamron Hall, Host of MSNBC’s NewsNation, was the emcee for the evening, and while she provided lighthearted commentary for the night, the real stars were the night’s honorees and scholarship recipients.

Model Beverly Johnson received an award, along with celebrity stylist June Ambrose, New York Fashion Week founder Fern Mallis, Belk CEO Thomas Belk, and Estee Lauder Beauty Director Susan Akkad. Each was awarded for their achievements within the fashion retail industries.

The high school and college aged students who took part in the program received scholarships to continue with their education and pursue their goals within the retail world.
