Last week we watched children solemnly sing about the possible end of civil society, where “sick people just die,” “oil fills the sea,” and we fight “endless wars on foreign soil” if GOP nominee Mitt Romney becomes president.

VIDEO: Oh No! Joss Whedon Warns Of The Romney “Zombie Apocalypse!”

Today, world class filmmaker Joss Whedon released an ad explaining how the election of the Republican candidate would inevitably lead to a zombie apocalypse.

“Romney is ready to make the deep rollbacks in health care, education, social services, reproductive rights that will guarantee poverty, unemployment, overpopulation, disease, rioting: all crucial elements in creating a nightmare zombie wasteland,” cries Whedon in the political mock ad.

Naturally, all this talk about zombies and the end of the world left us wondering what would really happen if Mitt Romney was elected president. Would civilization come to an end? Would we lose rights to live free and happy lives? Would we be terrorized by flesh-eating monsters?

Just in case the end is near, we suggest that you get ready by stocking up on water, canned goods and contraception, because many things we take for granted could be doomed!

The End Of Obamacare

If Mitt Romney becomes president, he vows to repeal President Obama’s signature healthcare reform bill, the Affordable Care Act or “Obamacare,” on his first day in office. Repealing the act would roll back a number of provisions that make healthcare more affordable and accessible for millions of Americans.

For instance, the bill has made it easier for disabled miners or their widows to get federal benefits for the deadly black lung disease.

A repeal would also eliminate the discounts that allowed seniors to save $600 on prescription drugs last year.

In addition, we would lose protection from insurance companies that drop people who get sick, made a mistake on their application, or hit an arbitrary cap on coverage.

Plus, 86 million would lose access to preventive care, such as life-saving cancer screenings and regular checkups, which is covered by Medicare or their insurance without a copay or deductible.

The End Of Women’s Right To Choose Era

Since running his presidential campaign, Mitt Romney has presented himself as a strong pro-life advocate who vows to clip away at a woman’s right to have an abortion. He’s said repeatedly that he would overturn Roe vs. Wade, the Supreme Court ruling that ensures women the right to receive legal and safe abortions throughout the country. In turn, the question of whether abortions will be permitted in each state will be left up to the state legislatures, which are dominated by men.

He also promises to defund Planned Parenthood, an organization that provides women with reproductive healthcare, contraception and abortions.

The End of Medicare

Money Mitt and his running mate Paul Ryan have put forth a plan to privatize Medicare into a voucher program. This means that seniors would be supplied with fixed government vouchers to buy private health insurance that would be capped off once they spend a certain amount of money on healthcare.

The End Of Bank Regulation

Throughout Romney’s campaign trail, he has pledged to repeal Dodd-Frank, a bill passed under the Obama Administration that regulates banks and Wall Street in order to prevent another financial meltdown. One provision under Dodd-Frank is the rule that would make banks liable for selling anything other than “qualified mortgages.” However, Gov. Romney has not given any specifics in his plan to “repeal and replace” Dodd-Frank. Obama said it best at the first presidential debate: “Does anyone out there think that the big problem we had is that there was too much oversight and regulation of Wall Street? Because if you do, Gov. Romney is your candidate.”

So a Romney Administration would be the end of the Affordable Care Act, the end of Dodd-Frank, the end of Roe vs. Wade and the end of Medicare. Looks like an apocalypse could very well be on its way!
