TNT’s Saturday Morning Special: Top 5 Tracks Of The Week (NEW MUSIC)

Swizz Beatz is no stranger to hit records. Hell, he invented his own brand of hit records. This week I saw the “Everyday Birthday” trailer featuring Swizzy, Breezy and Luda. That’s at least 100 + million albums sold worldwide on one track. I knew instantly, this is a guaranteed smash inside and out of the club. I wouldn’t even be surprised to hear “Everyday Birthday” in a few commercials.  The track definitely has that worldwide appeal with a stadium club rump shaking beat to boot. This will definitely replace the traditional “go shawty it’s your birthday record,” at least for the time being.

I’ll say it millions of times till I’m blue in the face: Juicy J is one of the dopest personalities in hip-hop music today. He and his 3-6 brethren reinvented  themselves in mainstream America with their hilarious MTV reality series. But on the hip-hop side Juicy has had resurgence on the airwaves. First it was his club anthem “Bandz a Make Her Dance” and now it’s “Know Betta.” It’s Juicy at his best with the punchlines to match. The homie Wiz Khalifa drops in a nice 16 to represent for Taylor Gang side of things. 2013 is the year Juicy’s Stay Trippy album drops and it will be classic.

Speaking of Tennessee hip-hop, peep this cat Dee Goodz. He’s apart of the new school era of rappers that are making some of the dopest music in hip-hop. His latest offering “Fam, Friends and $$” is a realistic journey through the life of most MCs and people striving to get to the top. It’s an inspirational tune with dope ass production and a positive message. Only time will tell what this young MC has in store. But “Fam, Friends and $$” is a good next step. Be on the look out for his new project with the always fresh producer KickDrums coming soon.

2012 was a big year for Casey Veggies. In addition to the Roc Nation co-sign, he appeared in every major city in the world on several tours. So it was no mystery to me this week when I heard his latest laid back banger “Life$tyle.” Young Veggies is fresh with his wordplay as usual, but his flow is more universal now. You can tell he’s a well traveled MC. Producer Cardiak laces yet another dope track to add to his catalogue of hits. This is that laid-back-LA-101-freeway-must-hear music.

The Odd Future clique is like a modern day eclectic Wu-Tang Clan. Maybe not lyrically and in theory but definitely creatively. You have Frank Ocean, Tyler The Creator and my favorite Earl Sweatshirt amongst their crew. When it comes to rapping, Earl is the wordsmith with style in the crew. This week I heard his new record “CHUM.” This hot sh*t promises to be an underground smash. It’s just a simple beat looped and Earl’s monotone lyrics inter-mixed fresh. Until we read again…

Until we read again…
