Barack Obama Won The Election! Now It's Time For His Wardrobe To Get A Fashion Forward Makeover (PHOTOS)

Congratulations America, we did it again! Barack Obama is officially our president for four more years and he will get the chance to enjoy a second term in the White House.

As I was watching the final votes get tallied and the announcement was made, I couldn’t help but feel overjoyed. As a black man in the USA, I have to admit that having a black president adds a level of interest in Barack’s elections that I hadn’t had before. To be totally honest, I probably wouldn’t be as interested in politics as I am now, and I am pretty sure I’m not the only one who feels this way.

On the other hand, as a person who deals with style everyday, I could not help but feel a little less inspired by what Barack wears on a day-to-day basis. While I know that someone’s wardrobe is nowhere near as important as winning the presidency, I, like the rest of the fashion world, feel like Barack has room to step it up a bit.  Look at Michelle. While she is frequently in dresses by Thom Browne, Tracy Reese, Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors among others, Barack looks like his stylist simply goes to the Men’s Warehouse – finds blue and black suits in a size 40 – and calls it a day.

Is this what a man who is running the free world should look like? Some random guy who – had he not been President, we wouldn’t give him another look? And while I know everything from his shoes to the color of his tie are put under more scrutiny than your answers on the LSAT, what is wrong with a better fit or even a better tailored suit that fits the President like a glove?

Is America not ready for a peak lapel on his jacket? Would there be a negative reaction if he wore a brown double monk strap shoe and a matching belt with a blue suit? Is America so shallow that if Barack looked “too good” or dressed “too well” it would end up being negative – almost as if he felt like he himself was “too good” for the common man?

I for one disagree. I know the type of reaction that I get when I have on a well-tailored suit with the right tie and shoes, and it has never been negative. Both men and women are naturally attracted to someone who dresses well. There are numerous websites, magazines and blogs completely built around men’s fashion and I would love if my President could adhere to that same standard of style.

I’m in no way saying that I want to see Barack in Givenchy t-shirts and Nike Air Yeezy sneakers, but a double-breasted suit every now and then couldn’t hurt…could it? Take a look at the gallery above for some outfits by celebrities and a few common Americans that I think Barack would look great wearing, as well as a picture of Barack in one of these great suits with a little help from Photoshop!
