Wild Card Weekend – Great Things To Do In Miami This Weekend

Welcome to the weekend!  We don’t know how your week went but hopefully we can make it better.  In today’s installment of Dollars & Sense, we have some great things that you can do in the sunny city of Miami, Florida.  Check it all out below.

    Visit Crandon Park

Pristine sand, calm shallow water, a winding boardwalk and convenient parking. And aside from being home to one of the best (and safest) beaches in the county, Crandon has a family amusement center with a restored vintage carousel, a roller rink (bring skates) and a nature center with programs that explore the seagrass and the fossilized mangrove reef. Best of all are the resident iguanas and unusual reptiles. For $20 an hour, you can rent a family-sized bike built for two peddlers and two strapped-in seats up front.

    Address

    4000 Crandon Boulevard,

    Key Biscayne

Check Out The Rubell Family Collection

One of the country’s top private collections of contemporary art is a bold assortment of avant-garde work: conceptual art, photography, sculpture and painting. They are all represented in the Rubell Family Collection. Owned by brother and sister Jason and Jennifer Rubell, the collection features important works by Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Cindy Sherman, Jeff Koons and Charles Ray. It is located in a former Drug Enforcement Agency confiscation center – something that the late Steve Rubell, founder of Manhattan’s famous Studio 54 and uncle to Jennifer and Jason – would have found hugely amusing.

    Address

    95 NW 29th Street,

    at NW 1st Avenue

    Financial Tip Of The Day

Cut Back On The Convenience Foods

Instead of eating fast food or just nuking some prepackaged food when you get home, try making some simple and healthy replacements that you can take with you. An hour’s worth of preparation one weekend can give you a ton of cheap and handy meals that will end up saving you a lot of cash and not eat into your time when you’re busy.
