Larry Hagman, star of the hit show Dallas, has passed away at the age of 81.

According to one of his co-stars, Larry died at a Dallas hospital because of complications with his throat cancer.

He had previously suffered from liver cancer and cirrhosis of the liver back in the 1990’s after decades of drinking.

His co-starring wife on the television show said in an email to the Huffington Post:

“Larry Hagman was my best friend for 35 years. He was the Pied Piper of life and brought joy to everyone he knew. He was creative, funny, loving and talented, and I will miss him enormously.”

The show started in 1978 and became such a huge hit that a spin-off was created after.

Larry played the villain on the hit show, and will be very missed by his family and co-stars.
