As we near the end of 2012, President Obama is preparing to start his second term and appoint new people to fill roles in his Cabinet.

LIST: The Presidential Clique! The 411 On Obama’s Potential New Cabinet Members

Obama must assign new officials for the half a dozen Cabinet members who will no longer work under him come 2013. This includes Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the top Cabinet member, and Secretary of the Treasury Tim Geithner.

The frontrunners to replace Clinton include U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Susan Rice and former presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry. However, Obama’s assertive defense of Rice against Republicans who condemn her creditability due to her remarks about the US attacks in Libya may be an indication that he’s leaning towards her.

Democratic sources suggest that Geithner’s position as the Sec. of Treasury will be replaced by White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew, Neal Wolin, the current deputy secretary of the Treasury, or Lael Brainaed, who is the current Under Secretary of the Treasury for international affairs. Obama could also choose someone with business savvy for this role, such as investor Roger Altman, former chair of Time/Warner Richard Parsons, and Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg.

Regardless of his choices, we’re confident that Obama will choose the right person for each Cabinet seat – no matter who he selects!
