UPDATE: Givenchy has denied that there will be an affordable collection made in collaboration with H&M. According to Vogue UK, the house says rumors about the partnership are “false.” H&M, on the other hand, has stated simply that they “do not comment on rumors.”
We should point out that although H&M is currently selling a collection they did in collaboration with Maison Martin Margiela, when the rumor originally surfaced about that collection, they also decided not to comment. Until 2013 comes and goes, fans of both brands may still have a glimmer of hope.
H&M is coming off a successful collaborative effort with Maison Martin Margiela and although the hype has only just begun to die down, new rumors of another high-end collaboration have already emerged.
Givenchy is apparently next in line to collaborate with the Swedish fashion giant. There’s no doubt in our mind that since Riccardo Tisci took over as creative director of Givenchy, the brand has become much more visible and widely recognized.
Givenchy has only become your favorite rapper’s favorite brand within the last three seasons, starting with the highly popular Fall 2011 Rottweiler t-shirt worn by just about every rapper to touch the microphone since then.
With prices of a Givenchy t-shirt ranging from $300-$700, we can imagine why there would be a rumor for a $35 alternative that is still technically from Givenchy.
And like every other rumor, there is usually a small amount of truth involved. Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available!
