President Obama and his leading lady attended the annual Kennedy Center Honors last night, and although they were there to honor those receiving the award, it was their glamorous presence that stole the show!

The Kennedy Center Honors, our nation’s highest award for artistically influential Americans, began in the East Room of the White House, where President Obama honored the seven individuals, including Chicago bluesman Buddy Guy, actor Dustin Hoffman, Late Night host David Letterman, ballerina Natalia Makarova and the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant.

During the ceremony, Obama joked:

Tonight, we continue a tradition here at the White House by honoring some extraordinary people who have no business being on the same stage together.

On a more serious note, the President stated:

Tonight in the People’s House, we have a chance to say thank you … [You have all] inspired us to see things in a new way, to hear things differently, to discover something within us or to appreciate how much beauty there is in the world … It’s that unique power that makes the arts so important.

After the ceremony, everyone made their way to the Kennedy Center, where fellow performers took the stage to show their gratitude for the honorees.

And, for those keeping tabs on our First Lady’s epic taste in style, she wore a stunning Michael Kors gold lamé dress with embellishments at the neckline. POTUS didn’t look so bad himself in a nicely tailored tuxedo and an American flag on his lapel.
