The magazine features the 31-year-old songstress on the cover in a fierce red Lanvin dress accessorized with a dazzling smile.

In the corresponding interview, she details how she survived Hurricane Sandy as a Soho New York resident:

“…After the third or fourth tuna fish sandwich, and after we learned we’d be without power for a week, I called my mother, who lives Uptown. She was okay and hadn’t lost any power, so we ended up going to her house. We were pretty lucky…”

Alicia also reveals the lesson she’s learned about living as she’s gotten older, saying:

“It’s okay if I can’t do every single thing. I finally understand that it doesn’t make me a lesser artist or human being…”

The cover came just in time, as Alicia has claimed her spot at #1 on the charts. Alicia’s fifth studio album, Girl on Fire, debuted at number one on the Billboard carts this week, pushing 161,000 units.
