There are so many events when it comes to the holiday season. As the invitations pour in and your gift list gets bigger, the only thing that seems to get smaller is your wallet and the window of time to prep for all these holiday soirees.

Typically, the go-to outfit for a holiday party would be the following: Something red, something sparkly, or something that is just black and safe. Snoozer.

Holiday season is probably the only time of year when you get to pull out all your over the top wardrobe items and take them for a spin. While sequin dresses seemed to be the party fave of the past, this year’s trends have left us with so many more options when it comes to dressing fashionably fab for the holidays. Whether you’re paring an everyday moto leather with sequin pants, or opting for the new and fabulous metallic dresses, there is so much room to play around.

Check out our guide to dressing for holiday parties this year, but first, note the things that can never fail: A standout bright lipstick, shiny accessories, and a killer pair of pumps.

Spunk up your look with a pant that brings the look to new heights, but be sure to keep the rest of the look simple while the pants get their shine. Top it off with a red lip and a pair of metallic tipped shoes for a perfect balance.

Seriously when else can you wear feathers? Swap out whatever boring skirt you were going to choose for a feathered look with a little more flair.

Kick that sequin dress to the curb and light up the room in a metallic dress. Holiday season is the time to go over the top with a lot of accessories, so pile them on and don’t be afraid to get a little crazy.

Menswear made a comeback this year, and not just for men! Women adopted the look too and this is a perfect way to update the look with a sequin coat and a pop of color with the yellow heels.
