Get On Down is giving us a “Trip Down Memory Lane” with the release of the Gold Edition version of Nas’ critically acclaimed classic album Illmatic.

The Gold Edition version of Illmatic will come as a package that includes a 24k Audiophile Gold Disc CD with re-mastered audio, housed in a “Cherrywood Trophy Box” with gold plaque, a black 2-piece outer box with original “Nas” promotional sticker exclusive to GetOnDown.com orders, a 48 page full-color, hard cover liner notes book including extended artwork, full album lyrics and liner notes from The Source magazine’s founder Jon Shecter.

Additionally, there will be a reproduction of the original 1994 Illmatic press release, two 8 x 10 glossy promo photos used in the Illmatic campaign and a rare 1994 promotional poster with full album lyrics printed on the back.

As an added bonus, Get On Down has also collaborated with Hall Of Fame for a capsule collection of t-shirts and a hat to coincide with the release of the Gold Edition IIlmatic set.

The hats will bear the logo “FameMatic,” combining Hall Of Fame’s name with Illmatic, but the most attention undoubtedly goes to the shirts in the collection – mainly the two with Jesus in a headlock based off of Nas’s line: “When I was 12 I went to hell for snuffing Jesus” from Live At The Barbeque.

A little known fact was that the original Illmatic artwork was supposed to be a picture of Nas with Jesus in a headlock.
