Whether you like it our not, 2012 was the year of one of the most anticipated babies in Hollywood.
Heir to Hip-Hop royalty, daughter to the King of Rap and the reigning Queen Of R&B, Blue Ivy Carter indisputably owned this year.
Born just as 2012 started getting comfortable, the world stopped when she arrived on January 7th at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, and inquiries on Jay-Z and Beyonce‘s new bundle of joy were at the top of pop culture’s to-do list.
She first stole our hearts when Hov and Bey revealed candid photos from the hospital room on a Tumblr titled Hello Blue Ivy Carter and that’s when the debate began: who does this little tot resemble more?
Then like true Hip-Hop royalty and less than a month old, Blue made her mark, becoming the youngest person to appear on the Billboard Charts.
Who does that?!
With a little help from her pops, Blue’s newborn cries were featured on “Glory,” a song he released shortly after her birth, during which he expresses joy at his little girl’s arrival and the journey of getting there:
- Hard not to spoil you rotten, looking like little me
- The most beautifulest thing in this world
- Is daddy’s little girl
- You don’t yet know what swag is but you was made in Paris
- And Mama woke up the next day and shot her album package
Soon after, the paps were on the loose, trying to catch a shot of Blue Ivy any chance they got, and they were successful.
Usually wrapped in an array of blankets, scarves and on occasion shielded by her mother’s clothes, the world got their first glimpse of Blue’s face since her birth when Bey took her 6-month-old on a little shopping trip to Bergdorf Goodman’s.
If being nestled in Beyonce’s bosom isn’t enough to make you jealous, this little tot also toured the Mediterranean Sea in the South Of France on a luxury yacht for her mama’s birthday. This may have been one of the most precious Blue Ivy moments to date. Daddy’s little girl was spotted all over her pops and the pair couldn’t be any more adorable.
Making her mark as a true princess, it’s only right that Blue Ivy has fabulous duds to match. Creating custom clothes for Blue Ivy would be any designer’s dream and this year, the 1-year-old’s closet was filled with the best of the best.
