UPDATE 12/16/12 9:06 A.M. EST

According to medical examiners Adam Lanza shot victims between three to 11 times.

Chief Medical Examiner H. Wayne Carver II, who has been a medical examiner for 36 years says:

“I’ve been at this for a third of a century so my sensibilities may not be the that of the average man, but it’s probably the worst I’ve ever seen,”

ABC News reports:

A team of 14 medical technicians worked through the night to complete the grisly job of identifying the children killed by Adam Lanza, 20, in the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre so their names could be released today.

Based on the Sandy Hook school directory, all the kids killed were in the first grade and were in two classrooms.

The site reports:

In one class, 15 of the 16 students listed were killed. In the other class, five of the 16 students died along with their teacher, Victoria Soto. Also, nine of the deceased students have siblings in the school.

Tragedy struck yesterday as 26 innocent victims were shot dead at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

Adam Lanza, the alleged shooter shot and killed his own mother in her home before getting in her car, with her guns, and driving to the nearby elementary school. There he took the lives of 20 children, all between the ages of 5 and 10, six adults and then himself.

Adam Lanza is thought to have had a form of autism and has been described as “odd,” “troubled,” “a little off,” and “uneasy.”

Diane Day, a school therapist, told the Wall Street Journal that she and several other teachers were in a meeting with Dawn Hochsprung and Mary Sherlach (the school psychologist, also deceased) when the shooting began. Newtown law enforcement has confirmed that Lanza forced his way into the school.

Lanza, dressed in black military gear and a bulletproof vest, had two handguns and a rifle on him, which were all purchased legally by his mother. Authorities are now tracing three additional guns, all single-action rifles. Lanza reportedly attempted to purchase a gun this past Tuesday but was unsuccessful.

DETAILS: The 411 On Adam Lanza, The Alleged Sandy Hook Shooter

Another interesting twist to this case came when Adam was originally confused with his older brother, Ryan Lanza, 24, because Adam had his brother’s ID on his person. Once it was cleared up that Ryan was the older brother (although his Facebook profile had already gone viral) and not the actual shooter, it was reported that law enforcement found Ryan and took him into custody for questioning (pictured below). His home in Hoboken, New Jersey was also searched.

It is being reported that while working at his desk at the Ernst and Young in NYC, Ryan Lanza saw CNN reporting that he had killed 30 people at an elementary school in Connecticut.

After leaving work, he posted on his Facebook page:

Everyone shut the f*** up it wasn’t me…I’m on the bus home now it wasn’t me. IT WASN’T ME I WAS AT WORK IT WASN’T ME.”

Brett Wilshe, a friend of Ryan Lanza’s, told the AP that he sent Ryan a Facebook message Friday asking what was going on and if he was alright. According to Wilshe, Lanza’s reply was something along the lines of:

“It was my brother. I think my mother is dead. Oh my God.”

Law enforcement believe Ryan Lanza was not involved and is not a suspect.
