Marcos Sarinana Gurrola of Garden Grove, a 42 year old man has been taken into custody, accused of firing shots at Fashion Island mall in Newport Beach yesterday.

Authorities in Orange County said some 50 shots were fired outside a mall in Newport Beach, Calif., during the busy Christmas shopping season Saturday, a day after a mass shooting in Connecticut had the nation in mourning and again debating gun control.
As mall patrons scrambled into hiding places and shop employees rushed to close doors, officers on bike patrol arrested Gurrola.

One person is in custody after there were reports that shots were fired at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, California on Saturday afternoon.
Shots were heard and shoppers were then evacuated.

The shots were reported at 4:35 p.m. Several people reported hearing gunshots in the Macy’s parking lot. There were no immediate reports of injuries, but police are checking to make sure there are no victims.
A mall employee Duaine Arvidson told Eyewitness News via phone that Macy’s was evacuated, and people calmly left the building. He also says although he didn’t not see any signs of a weapon he did hear gunshots.
