It looks like YouTube has had enough of these hackers!

The popular video sharing site has come down hard on videos with millions of views and likes, since they cancelled many of their stats for having fake viewers, which is called “black hat”.

Top videos such as Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”, Psy’s “Gangnam Style”, and Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” all took a huge hit from the site’s new view count policy, being that many of their views are from hackers.

Both Sony and Universal were stripped of over 2 billion views once YouTube’s new policy kicked in, since it’s believed that they hired hackers to increase the views and likes of some of their biggest videos.

YouTube recently said in a statement:

“This was not a bug or a security breach. This was an enforcement of our viewcount policy.”

Apparently, Alicia Keys and Rita Ora alone lost 850 million views on their videos. Fortunately, their pockets won’t be hit as hard as others who rely on “view count” as an advertisement technique.

Hopefully this just means the fans of these artists can go even harder for their favorite musicians!
