Marlon Wayans was part of the very beginning of Scary Movie, and held it down since the franchise began in 2000.

However, Marlon recently decided to call it quits and go his own way.

As we all know, the Scary Movies series was really popular, so Marlon just had to explain to us why he left!

Marlon Wayans: I still wanted to do comedy and I felt like with the Scary Movie franchise, you kind of grow. I’m done with that, but I still love horror. I still love comedy. It’s like the colonel leaving Kentucky Fried Chicken. I still like chicken, I just don’t like the Kentucky Fried anymore.

For me, Scary Movie, the whole tempo, the whole direction that it went, was very different than what we originally wrote and conceived. I wanted to do something different. I wasn’t into the rhythm of how they were doing their thing and I wanted to create my own. It’s different than Scary Movie. Scary Movie was a parody, and this is a horror comedy with parody moments that could have made a funny Scary Movie 5, but you gotta pay for good jokes.

GG: Is that what happened? They didn’t want to pay for those jokes, huh?

MW: I think sometimes people don’t see your value. Its like James Harden wasn’t getting his money playing for OKC so you go alright, I’m going to go to Houston and I’m going to play my ass off and show them what I can do.

Check out Marlon’s new foray into film: A Haunted House, which hits theaters this Friday, January 11th!
