The White House has just released a photo of the moment that President Barack Obama has called “the worst day in his presidency.”

VIDEO: President Obama Addresses The Nation Following Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting

As John Brennan, White House deputy national security advisor, briefs Obama on the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings, White House photographer Pete Souza captured the tense and emotional moment.

Head bowed and concern etched on his face, the President learns of the deaths of 20 children, all between ages 6 and 7, and the six staffers that were shot up to 11 times.

Later that day, Obama held a press conference regarding the shooting, but the toll of the tragedy was evident as he wiped away tears.

He has assigned Vice President Joe Biden to the gun task force to draft proposals that will hopefully aid in the fight against guns.
