    Ned Wertimer, who played the Doorman for 11 seasons of the CBS sitcom “The Jeffersons,” has died, according to the Associated Press.

    Wertimer was famous Ralph Hart, the uniformed, mustachioed doorman at the luxury apartment building on “The Jeffersons,” which ran from 1975 to 1985.

    The actors manager, Brad Lemack, said that the 89-year-old actor died at a Los Angeles-area nursing home on Jan. 2.

    Wertimer was suffering from a fall in his home in Burbank.

    The actor, originally from Buffalo, N.Y. was a Navy pilot during World War II and starred in dozens of television shows from the early 1960’s through the late 1980’s.

    Sadly, the show’s star, Sherman Hemsley, died July 24.

    He’ll surely be missed. Rest in peace.
