Dennis Lauscha, president of the New Orleans Pelicans, held a press conference Thursday to announce that his basketball team will no longer be known as the New Orleans Hornets.

They will furthermore be assuming the spirit of the Pelican, the state bird of Louisiana. In light of this announcement, we have decided to compile a list of our favorite, most well thought out team names in sports…just kidding! We rounded up the ones that are kinda just, well, weird.
