A 59-year-old Michigan woman walked into a police station and shot herself to death, according to police.
The woman, Charlotte Jones, was suffering from terminal throat cancer and a note left behind in her pocket explained why she was committing suicide.
“The note basically said she had enough and wanted to end it because of her illness,” Oak Park Lt. Samantha Kretzschmar said, according to The Oakland Press.
The last three words of the note read, “Enough is enough.”
The incident happened at about 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, when Jones walked into the Oak Park Public Safety station. She put a .38-caliber revolver inside of her mouth and pulled the trigger, police say.
“She didn’t say anything to anyone inside the lobby before she killed herself,” Kretzschmar added.
A dispatcher and another person at the station heard the gunshots, but neither of them directly witnessed Jones pulling the trigger. Officers rushed to the lobby to try to resuscitate her, but she was pronounced dead upon arrival to the hospital.
Thoughts and prayers for Jones and the officers who witnessed the suicide.
