It’s always refreshing to see any industry making strides towards gender and sex equality, and this instance is no exception.

After transgender people make a life-changing decision to live their life as the opposite sex, they still have to conquer one feat: shopping for underwear.

New York-based Cy Lauz recognized the hole in the market and launched her underwear label Chrysalis, a line she refers to as the answer to the specific needs of transgender people.

The line features bras that are designed to hold custom bra inserts and power-mesh panties designed to create a seamless look by using a special panel that effectively tucks, holds and smoothes for those who have opted out of sexual reassignment. The bra comes with hidden pockets that hold full-cup inserts to create the appearance of a natural bustline.

The designer revealed the motive behind her initiative in an interview with Lingerie Talk, saying:

“There are some things for cross-dressers and drag queens, but they’re all sexually exploitative. I wanted a product that actually celebrated who we are, something that made us feel beautiful but is also practical.”

This is not only a celebration of inclusion, but also of advanced undergarment production! Be sure to head over to chrysalislingerie.com to check out the line.
