Perhaps no man in history has ever contributed more to the progression of black history than President Barack Hussein Obama. 

He transcended racial barriers, and in our lifetime, showed many something the assumed would never be possible: A black man residing in the White House.

As the is the 44th and current president of the United States, President Obama was the first African American to serve as U.S. president.

His history is rich with academic and political accomplishments. He is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law, where he was president of the Harvard Law Review. He continued on to become a civil rights attorney in Chicago before representing the 13th District in the Illinois Senate for multiple terms.

Barack Obama gained national attention after giving a keynote speech at the Democratic National Convention in 2004 while campaigning for the United States Senate.

He has since been nominated for two consecutive terms as President of the United States and has continued to serve not only as a well-spoken man of great honor, but also as a reminder that black people can prosper to presidential heights.
