We knew times were hard for the U.S. Postal Service, but now things are about to get real.

DETAILS: Hermès Gets The “Stamp” Of Approval From The French Postal Service

The Postal Service just announced that they will stop delivering mail on Saturdays, but will continue to deliver packages six days a week under a plan aimed at saving about $2 million annually.

The agency, which has been struggling financially for years, said that the cutback would begin in August.

They chose to continue delivering packages on Saturday because package delivery has increased by 14 percent since 2010. But mail and letters have declined with the increased use of email and other internet services.

Bummer!

According to the Huffington Post:

Under the new plan, mail would be delivered to homes and businesses only from Monday through Friday, but would still be delivered to post office boxes on Saturdays. Post offices now open on Saturdays would remain open on Saturdays.
