Money. Power. Regrets.

DETAILS: NRA Puts Beyonce, Bon Jovi & Boyz II Men On Their “Enemies” List

Hadiya Pendleton, Ronnie Chambers, Tmorej Smith, Rodrigo Abad and the children and teachers of Sandy Hook’s lives ended abruptly by guns. The increase in gun violence has raised concerns about the gun-control laws currently in place and it has also created an increase in ammunition demands.

The fight to get guns out of the streets and out of the hands of the senseless prove to be difficult. This battle may be a result of the Law Enforcement Alliance of America’s (LEAA) lucrative relationship with the National Riffle Association (NRA).

As reported by ThinkProgress, the NRA has funded millions of dollars to the LEAA that goes towards electing judges and state attorneys who are determined to win the war against crime, but does not fight wars that do not correspond with the ideas and values of the NRA.

Founded in 1991 on NRA’s dime, the LEAA opposes background checks and have funded attack ads that have helped Republicans in Pennsylvania and Michigan.

ThinkProgress repots, “Three judges on the Mississippi Supreme Court were elected with LEAA support, and the court recently rules that a Wal-Mart store was not liable for a murder committed with bullets the store had knowingly and illegally sold to a ‘straw purchaser’ who gave them to an underage friend. A few months after the ruling, the LEAA spent nearly half a million dollars to elect a judge to the Mississippi high court.”

It is impossible to bring those who have taken the lives of loved ones or who are illegally distributing firearms to justice if the men and women who are in charge are their supporters.

The objective is to serve the people of America. Being elected into office is not for the avaricious hoping to cash in on our nation’s misfortunes but a notable effort to making communities stronger and safer.

Wonder who’s gonna cut a check next.
