The Virgin/Whore dichotomy is a cultural, social mechanism that defines women in terms of their faithfulness to certain strict, social norms. The norms revolve around marriage, child-bearing, and maintaining the home. Any woman living outside those norms falls into either the “virgin” category or the “whore” category.
We can clearly see how this is relevant in day-to-day life, and especially when it comes to day-to-day life in the Hip-Pop realms.
If a woman can be linked to one other person, just one, with a semi-known name, they are either a Gold Digger, Groupie or just a plain ‘ol Hoe.
And don’t you dare think a woman having her own money, career or net worth is going to change that.
Kim Kardashian was one of the highest paid women in the world when she started dating Kanye West, but was still faced with accusations of being a Gold Digger who was with him for the cash and trapped him with a baby. Yes, we’re sure that is exactly what happened. Even the highest paid women just can’t win when it comes to dating a man in the spotlight.
In case you missed it, this weekend little weasel Wayne was sour about being kicked out of a Miami Heat game, so he did what any mature adult does, attacks the Miami Heat and throws salt on the wound with a public allegation that he slept with Chris Bosh’s wife back in the day.

Yes, well he also slept with Super Head (way after her book deals) and Kat Stacks and a plethora of other women that weren’t the classiest and known for taking advantage of rappers. Allegations also claim that Adrianne conned Lil Wayne out of $10, 000 for pseudo cancer treatments back in the day, but the origins of this rumor are unknown.
All heads turned to Adrienne, and dirty fingers began to defame her name, but who is the real fool here?
Self-proclaimed groupies like Super Head and Kat Stacks and all the infamous women who capitalized off of their bodies with many known men of stature still manage to wrangle men. Still manage to marry men. And continue on with their lives.
So once again I ask, who is the real fool and where is the dichotomy that defines this?
Contrary to popular belief, I don’t think the women are the ones losing here. I don’t think Lil Wayne pointing out the fact that he slept with Adrienne when she was young, single and responsible for no one but herself is a defamatory factor.
These men finance groupie lifestyles, buy their cars, their homes and shell out thousands of dollars for a little bit of face time and until the next big thing comes along.
They are the pawns, no matter what derogatory name they want to throw at women to mask this. The groupie lifestyle couldn’t exist without men, like Lil Wayne and others, foolish enough to feed into it and continuously fall for the tricks of the very game they are well versed in the real fools?
People change and experiences, build relationships and sometimes the things desired of life shifts.
While it may have once been important for Adrienne to be on the scene with rappers and ballers, maybe her new life mission is to be a loving mother, wife, daughter.
Every man wants to reach the height of their sexual days with as many notches under their belt as possible, but where are all of these pristine virgin wives without pasts going to emerge from?
Groupie, virgin or whore, mature people in relationships accept that their spouses were individuals before they met one another.
