But since the turn of the New Year, we’ve been seeing a tamer side of Minaj that includes more realistic wig selections paired with high end designer clothes and understated makeup – a look that has Nicki walking around like a flawless rap star.

We noted the changes in her wardrobe, and figured she was just toning down the looks for her American Idol appearances. However, now we know that Nicki is making a complete image makeover after expressing to EXTRA TV that she is trying a new “grown and sexy” look for the New Year.

No more crazy wigs, multicolored tutus or plant-inspired hair. Nicki is ready to look just like the rest of us, like mere mortals with hair we can duck safely into a car with.

While Nicki’s jaw-dropping looks served us well, we are kind of ready to let go of them as well, but not first without taking a moment to reflect on the sometimes shocking and sometimes comical fashion that belongs to Ms. Minaj.

Nicki wanted to watch the Oscars. So she did, as she hit up Elton John’s viewing party in this simple dress with glitter pumps and a face of makeup that any artist would swoon over.
Blonde hair. Check. Herve dress. Check. Red Bottoms. Check. Nicki was going for an understated look with this colorful, yet chic bodycon dress, and we kinda loved it.
Nicki was incognito in this number, loud for an everyday citizen, but relatively downplayed for Minaj, and one of the few times we have seen the beauty without pink lips.
New Year’s Eve is all about being sexy, right? That’s why this was the perfect dress selection for Nicki to kick off her resolutions. The hair was still very close to God though.
Onika? Is that you? Nicki opted for all black everything down to the hair, and this look was both a stunner and a winner.
The dress was a stunner, and we could almost see the normalcy peeking in with the blonde ends. Signs of times to come.

This has to be the number one reason we are happy Nicki Minaj is making a shift to more “Grown and sexy looks.” Sunbathing by the palm trees is luxurious…Becoming one on the other hand…not so much.
