Hold on ’80s babies! Don’t throw out your L.A. Gears just yet, because your time is now. The ’90s are having a moment when it comes to the fashion world.

It really isn’t easy being an ’80s baby. We’re the first crop of twentysomethings to graduate into a recession, move back home after college at record rates, and of course, we are the first ones to experience what it’s to like a life completely molded by the Internet.

The upside of being an ’80s baby? We got to live it up in the height of all the trends of the ’90s. Lisa Frank? Had that! Slap bracelets? Wore those. Grungy Johnny Depp? Loved him. And when the fashions hit the runway this Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, one thing was for sure: Fearless ’90s fashion was back.

Big brands like BCBG Max Azria, Balmain, and Yeezy favorite Givenchy, turned heads with looks heavily influenced by the essence of the time when TGIF was still the thing to watch on Fridays.

Don’t believe us? Don’t worry, one of the most epic babies born into the ’80s is here to illustrate just how heavy some of the biggest trends of the ’90s are weighing on modern wardrobe selections.

Here is the resurgence of ’90s grunge, as told entirely by Rihanna’s outfit selections. Prepare to allow nostalgia to take you over.

Dark Lipstick: I have vivid memories of my mom rocking the wine stained lips when I was a youngin’, and now it is back with a reinvented punch and seen on at least one pout every single red carpet.

Cut-Off Shorts: Mom jeans with a twist. The rebels were the ones who cut their Levis and lived it up in their grungy bliss. Extra ’90s style points to Rihanna for pairing them with Chuck Taylors.

Jordans: Listen, Mike Jordan was THE MAN in the ’90s. He won 6 championships and had just about everyone rocking a pair of his kicks. Years later, the retro editions are seeing re-releases and still driving the masses insane.

The Sweater Around The Waist: This trend was the original layering trend. Put some clothes on, save some to put on later, or hide the fact that those homemade Levi cut-off shorts were a tad too cheeky.

Backwards Caps: Two words, WILL SMITH. Five more words: FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR. No more words needed.

Flannel And Timberlands: Rihanna knocked this one out with the one-two trend punch. She paired the infamous work boots with a flannel plaid print bomber and put a retro spin on an old classic.

Denim Overalls: She was totally supposed to drop one strap. Like, duh!

High Slit Skirts: Angelina Jolie knew what she was doing at the Oscars last year. When short skirts were reserved for the Valley girls, the daredevils were seeing just how high their slits could go. Plus points for the shell toes and the beanie.

Chokers: Oh, the neck tyranny. Chokers weren’t always the most comfortable accessories to rock, but when you come across a stellar gold number like Rihanna’s vintage gift from Breezy, it’s hard to say no. Plus two points to RiRi for pairing the chocker with a ’90s inspired lace dress.

And here, Rihanna just went ’90s all the way with Jordans, a DKNY jumper and a multi colored bomber coat.

What are some of your favorite trends that you want to see make a comeback?
