Save a life, get suspended.

DETAILS: SMH! New Bill Makes Strict Gun-Control Laws Illegal

A Florida teen sprung into action on a school bus when he noticed a football player threatening a teammate with a gun at close range. Rather than being a witness to a murder, the teen wrestled the gun out of the gunman’s hands. His reward for his heroic act was suspension.

The 16-year-old boy, who remains anonymous, was suspended from Cypress Lake High School in Fort Myers for three days. The school stated their reasoning being “his role in an incident where a weapon was present.”

Witnesses said the gunman held a .22 caliber revolver “point blank” at a student, threatening to shoot him. Despite witnesses supporting the hero, the school stands firm on their decision. The teen’s mother believes her son’s actions were commendable and without his quick action “there would have been a lot of fatalities.”

The teen agrees with his mother, telling Channel 4 News “It’s dumb. How they going to suspend me for doing the right thing?”

School district spokesman Alberto Rodriguez refused to comment in detail, nor did he seem apologetic for the school’s unreasonable decision. Rodriguez justified the school’s decision to suspend the teen by saying, “Florida law allows the principal to suspend a student immediately pending a hearing.”

SMH! Florida really needs a legal makeover. Since the school refuses to commend this young hero, we will. You did the right thing!
