Cut The Onion: How Your Tweet About Quvenzhane wallis Landed In A Pile Of DooDoo! by Michael Skolnik
The Onion has decided to do what they do best: laugh at themselves. The joke publication published a satirical piece based on the backlash they received after calling young Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis a c-nt via Twitter.
The sarcastic piece depicts The Onion staff thrilled over the public response they’ve received, with a study finding the Onion’s audience to agree “the last five or six days in particular constitute a veritable high watermark for the company.”
It continues by saying “At press time, the editorial staff of the Onion had confirmed that they could not remember having a better week at work, nor could they remember ever having felt so happy in general with their lives, not more content with the state of the world as a whole and their place in that world.”
DETAILS: The Onion Responds To Controversial Quvenzhane Wallis Tweet
The Onion took full responsibility for the inappropriate slur, issuing a public apology and deleting the tweet.
Way to turn negatives into a positive Onion, but your tweet is still going down as one of the most distasteful comments in history.
