Russell Westbrook is not your average basketball player. He’s ridiculously fast, has a 36-inch vertical, a 67 ¾-inch wingspan and a temper that could rival Kobe’s when the time is right.

As a leading scorer for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Russell Westbrook has become a superstar in his own right, but off the court, he’s equally as well known. Unlike other athletes, this time it wasn’t for his off court behavior, but his style that earned Russell a reputation for being the most fashionable in the NBA.

Russell’s wardrobe landed him in the pages of Vogue and next to Andre Leon Talley during New York Fashion Week.

For the April/May 2013 issue of Complex magazine, staff writer Jian DeLeon got a chance to talk with Russell about everything from his game, to the possibility of a clothing line.

On growing into his body fit into clothes:

“My body caught up with me. I grew into my body, and I had a little bit of muscle. I was able to fit into stuff easier. When you’re small and skinny, clothes look extra big on you.”

On getting ready for fashion week:

“I gotta make sure I’m fresh for that. That ain’t gonna be that hard.”

On making a clothing line:

“It’d have to be something that catches your eye.”
