Welcome to another Thursday. The weekend is almost here and you have a lot to look forward to.  However until it’s actually here, we have some great things for you to do in Seattle, Washington if you are void of one thing – a budget. Check it out in today’s installment of Dollars & Sense below.

Visit The Bloedel Reserve

This 150-acre preserve at the northern tip of Bainbridge Island (35 minutes by ferry from Seattle) is a mix of pristine second-growth forest and meticulously landscaped gardens. The self-guided loop trail takes roughly two hours and leads you through a bird refuge that’s home to trumpeter swans, great blue herons, and kingfishers; across hand-hewed wooden bridges and through fern-choked forest; and into a Japanese garden where leaves fall gracefully among wooden gates. The path eventually ends at a grand mansion, the former private residence of the Bloedel family—prominent in the timber industry’s forest-conservation efforts during the 1940’s and 50’s.

Go Dancing At The Century Ballroom and Café

Take a 2,000 foot dance floor, add a full bar and restaurant, place them in the Pike/Pine district, and you’ve got Century Ballroom and Cafe. Seattle is a city with an affinity for the arts, and dance enthusiasts flock to the historic (1908) brick Oddfellows Building to join classes that focus on everthing from traditional ballroom dancing to salsa, swing, tango, and tap. Across the hall, the Tin Table restaurant welcomes tired feet and with thirst-quenching libations and late dining until 1 a.m.

Financial Tip Of The Day

Bottle Your Own Water

Drinking water is good for your health. Bottled water is the most convenient since it can provide protection against accidental spills. That said, buy bottled water only once in a while, and then reuse that bottle to fill your own water. If you are not happy with tap water, invest in a Brita Filter – in the long run it can save a lot of money.
