This year’s 2013 MTV VMAs are coming to the most thorough borough in New York City: Brooklyn.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the annual awards ceremony, MTV execs thought Brooklyn would be the perfect place to host one of music’s biggest nights.
It’s been four years since the music network has had its annual award show in New York City, but this will be the first time MTV will shoot the VMAs in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz released a statement, saying:
“Now, it is only fitting that the first time Brooklyn will ever host a major awards show, we are welcoming the most exciting and talked about spectacle in the music industry … I’m so thrilled that I’ll probably get ‘no sleep till Brooklyn’ hosts the VMAs!”
The 2013 MTV VMAs are set to premiere August 25 at 8 p.m. EST on MTV network.
