This past weekend, Robert Zimmerman, brother of George Zimmerman, sent out the following tweet linking his brother’s victim, Trayvon Martin, with De’Marquise Elkins, the Georgia teenager charged with murdering a 13-month-old in a stroller last Thursday.

Needless to say, this caused a lot of controversy. Coming across as both racist and offensive, Mark O’Mara, George Zimmerman’s lawyer, responded to his client’s brother’s controversial tweet, telling Jonathan Capehart of The Washington Post

“A comment like that tying Trayvon Martin to a murdering 17-year-old because they are both black and showing their middle fingers is absurd.”

Capehart explained O’Mara was emphatic when he said that Zimmerman’s older brother does not represent or speak for his client. He was also quick to point out that he has not been in contact with Robert.

“I would like to say his heart is in the right place, but his words didn’t match.”

We can’t blame O’Mara for distancing his case from Robert, this tweet was a bad look for both him and his brother.
