In an interview with Anderson CooperChris Kluwe, a punter for the Minnesota Vikings, has vocalized his support on the coming out of an anonymous fellow NFL player. Breaking away from the typical perspectives of players, coaches, and fans of professional sports not to turn the focus of the sport inward, Kluwe feels homosexuals within professional sports should be embraced and not alienated or scrutinized.

Kluwe feels the question of sexual orientation and relationship status should not be asked in the recruiter phases and advises the player considering to come out to the world to “be true to yourself.” Kluwe also takes a jab at the Supreme Court for “moving away” on a sweeping chance to show “American citizens who are paying taxes and serve our military are being discriminated against and they shouldn’t be discriminated against.”
