“I am a feminist, BUT…”

“I guess I am a feminist…”

“I am sorta a feminist…”

Feminism is the new F word. Everyone wants to say it, but not without a personal disclaimer as a predecessor to the other F word.

According to a poll, nearly 70 percent of women don’t consider themselves to be feminists. When you break that down, it simply means that 70 percent of women don’t believe that they deserve the same pay, rights and protection as men.

Beyonce was the most recent celebrity to fall victim to the good ol’ guilt of aligning herself with feminism in her most recent Vogue UK interview. When asked if she considers herself a feminist, Beyonce, who once fell into the aforementioned 70 percent, chalked it up and in the least political way possible, and of course with a cautionary disclaimer and told the magazine:

“That word can be very extreme … But I guess I am a modern-day feminist. I do believe in equality. Why do you have to choose what type of woman you are? Why do you have to label yourself anything? I’m just a woman and I love being a woman… I do believe in equality and that we have a way to go and it’s something that’s pushed aside and something that we have been conditioned to accept. … But I’m happily married. I love my husband.”

Now allow me to blow all the dust from the parimeters around Beyonce’s statement and boil it down to the bare bones:

“I do believe in equality and that we have a way to go and it’s something that’s pushed aside and something that we have been conditioned to accept.”

Beyonce, you my friend, are a feminist. No disclaimers, buts or apologies needed.

But why is the most fiercely fearless woman in the world, afriad of another F word? Well, that is where it gets a little complicated.

Feminism has a bad wrap. The word itself is often associated with

There is not a feminist bible in publication that tells the story of feminism creation while it carefully lays out the rules women who strongly declare themselves feminists have to follow. We are free-living spirits in high heels and lipstick, or cropped cuts and baggy jeans who love men, women, and ourselves. Contrary to what many think, there is no right or wrong way to be a feminist, so what is the fuss all about?

The fuss is this: nobody really knows what the word means and we all have a tendancy to be afraid of the unknown.

Its simple, if women aren’t going to right for women, then who is?

in a feminist rule book that reads: “Feminists cannot love men, be married or wear high heels.

You, my friend, are a feminist.

It seems like it is a tricky thing to be

At the core, feminisim is the core is the desire to have equality between men and women

women still make 77cents to the dollar that a man makes

Women should enjoy the same rights and protections that men do then you are, indeed a feministim.

There are many feminisms just as there are many religions. Saying youre a feminist doesn’t mean you subscribe to a certain set of feminisim rules.

People are stepping away from the word because they don’t want to be politically aligined

Feminisim is not a war on men.
