Twitter has already changed the way we discover news, photos and one another, and now it is ready to revolutionize the way we discover new music.

Like most things, Twitter’s brand spanking new music discovery app was only for the elite of celebrities, but now the revolutionary social media site is ready to bring their product to the mainstream.

Yes, that is correct, we the people will finally get to see what all the hype is about Twitter’s #Music Discovery App. After testing the app with music artists and influencers, Twitter #Music will be available starting today at https://music.twitter.com and as a separate app for the iPhone through the App Store.

Wondering what the hoopla is all about? Well, allow us to explain.

The app will work to help you find music that’s popular on Twitter and music based on the bands you follow. If you have an Rdio or Spotify account, you can sign into them within the app and stream full tracks for your listening pleasure. If not, you’ll still have access to an iTunes preview to discover great new music.

Twitter Music, as it were, is the brainchild of We Are Hunted, a startup acquired by Twitter just last year. The app pulls in music from Rdio, Spotify and iTunes, while using data from your Twitter follower graph to deliver the best possible music for you.

According to abc’s review of the yet-to-be released iPhone App, the app is a sleek design that features pages that have a grid made up of artists and songs; tap one of those and the song will start playing along with a spinning CD animation. Tap on that and you get an enlarged CD — you can drag your finger around the CD to fast forward or rewind within that song.

Sounds like a party in 140 characters or less.
