You’ve heard the facts.

The U.S. government has spent $1 trillion dollars and 42 years putting non-violent drug offenders behind bars. That means that the Federal Prison population has soared by 790% since 1980.  It must also be mentioned that most of those offenders come from minority populations.

In fact, more African Americans are in the U.S. prison system than there were slaves in 1850!

Translation: millions of families and povety stricken communities are torn apart all because of America’s destructive and discriminative “War on Drugs.”

We’ve already called the celebrities to arms. We’ve got President Obama’s attention. Now, it’s your turn to #EndTheWarOnDrugs.

On April 27, GlobalGrind’s editor-in-chief and Russell Simmons political advisor, Michael Skolnik, will speak at the NAACP Northeast Region Community Town Hall Forum to discuss how to successfully combat the systematic destruction of communities and waste of resources, also know as America’s war on drugs.

Can’t make it to the Community College of Allegheny College for the discussion? Join us virtually on Twitter and use the hashtag #EndTheWarOnDrugs to find out what you can do to help reform our country’s criminal justice system.
