The Beastie Boys are iconic in the world of music, so can you imagine how awesome a book by them would be?

Surviving members Mike D and Ad-Rock have inked a deal with Spiegel & Grau – an imprint of Random House – to write a forthcoming memoir that will focus on the group’s historical career. Random House also just so happens to be the same imprint that published Jay-Z‘s Decoded book in 2010.

According to publisher Julie Grau, the duo are “interested in challenging the form and making the book a multidimensional experience.” She also added, “There is a kaleidoscopic frame of reference, and it asks a reader to keep up.”

The guys have been in talks to produce a memoir for some time now, but that whole idea was put on hiatus when member Adam Yauch passed away last year, due to salivary gland cancer.

While the forthcoming book is yet to be titled, it is expected for release in 2015.
