Two Ohio patrol officers on duty got the shock of a lifetime this week when they pulled over a car who failed to stop at an intersection, but were shot at by a gunman armed with an AK47!

Footage of the horrible attack was just released, and while it’s blurry, it’s easy to see the tragedy the officers faced when James Gilkerson fired off his shots.

After pulling over the vehicle, the man waited in his car for a minute before stepping out and opening fire of 37 shots on the two police officers of Middlefield, Ohio.

Police Chief Arnold Stanko said of the horrible event:

‘He got of the vehicle, intending to kill my officers. We don’t know why he did it.’

The officers then returned fire on Gilkerson, killing him with multiple piercing shots. He is then seen falling to the ground.

According to the NY Post:

Stanko, the police chief, said cops found eight 40-round magazines inside Gilkerson’s car, as well as combat-related books with titles like “Backyard Rocketry: Converting Model Rockets Into Explosive Missiles,” “Advanced Close-range Gun Fighting,” “Homemade Detonators: How To Make Them,” the Plain Dealer reported.

Thankfully, the officers are alive and doing alright, and the Lake County prosecutors called the cops’ actions justified.
