Oh sweet baby jeezus! The NRA strikes again.

Controversy was sparked yesterday when NRA Executive Vice President, Wayne LaPierre asked the crowd at the group’s annual meeting in Houston,Texas:

“How many Bostonians wished they had a gun two weeks ago?”

REALLY?!

LaPierre went on to explain that during the Boston lockdown that took place while police were on a manhunt for the bombing suspects, “frightened citizens [were] sheltered in place with no means to defend themselves.”
He continued:

“Imagine living in a large metropolitan area where lawful firearms ownership is heavily regulated and discouraged. Imagine waking up to a phone call from the police, warning that a terrorist event is occurring outside and ordering you to stay inside your home.”

Ugh! It the ridiculous remarks doesn’t end there.

In another insensitive move by the NRA, just days after a five year old boy shot and killed his two year old sister made headlines, firearms instructor Rob Pincus spoke at the same annual event and suggests that parent should store their guns in their kids’ bedrooms.

Yes!… in-their-kids’-bedrooms.

He says:

“How about putting a quick-access safe in your kids’ room? We have an emotional push back to that. Here’s my position on this. If you’re worried that your kid is going to try to break into the safe that is in their bedroom, with a gun in it, you have bigger problems than home defense.”

Pincus explains that in a home invasion situation, it makes sense to have a gun stored in a bedroom you’re instinctively moving to defend.

Um…righttttt.

He continues on:

“If that alarm goes off and the glass breaks and the dog starts barking, what’s the instinct that most people are going to have, in regards to, ‘Am I going to run across the house to get the gun, or am I going to run over here to help the screaming kid?’ And if I’m going to go to the kid anyway, and I have an extra gun and an extra safe, why not put it in their closet?”

S-M-F-H!
