Mariah Carey is undoubtedly having one of the worst mornings ever.
The “Beautiful” singer joined host Lara Spencer on Good Morning America this morning, and things didn’t go as smoothly as planned. Mariah hit the stage with Spencer and prepared to perform for a live audience in Central Park.
While we wish we could say that the show went off without a hitch – that just wouldn’t be a story, would it? After several complaints that she’s “never up at this hour,” Mariah narrowly avoided a serious wardrobe malfunction. It appeared the form-fitting Versace gown she donned on the early morning show was just a little too tight. The back of the dress popped open, almost exposing Mariah’s goodies to the live audience and viewers across the country.
Luckily, the 43-year-old fashion-forward singer caught the dress before “the girls” made a guest appearance, announcing, “the back of my dress just popped.” Members of the show’s crew rushed to her aid as she said, “I love you, Donatella, but it popped, darling.” Nice save!
Spencer did her job and attempted to keep the show moving, despite the commotion, while Mariah continued on about her dress-disaster.
“I just wanted to change the ensemble, you know,” the “#Beautiful” singer said. “What should we call this, the Central Park Saga? It seems like a YouTube moment, possibly a Spotify moment!”
The early-morning mishaps didn’t stop there. After returning from a commercial break, the show went on as planned. Mariah performed “Always Be My Baby,” during which she struggled to keep her mic clipped to her dress and was forced to awkwardly hold it as she sang. Later, her frustrations led her to a slip of the tongue as she proclaimed, “Oh sh-t! You didn’t hear that…”
Yes. Yes, we did.
Despite starting her morning off on the wrong foot, Mariah laughed off the struggles as she ended her concert. “Thank you for waking up with me this morning. Sort of.”
We suggest Mariah go back to bed and try again!
