The producers have spoken and though many great actresses, including Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone are vying for the part, it’s Great Gatsby star Carey Mulligan that takes the cake for the part of Hillary Rodham-Clinton.

Mulligan, who is married to Mumford and Sons singer Marcus Mulligan, will reportedly have a sit-down with the film’s director about the part; The Hollywood Reporter says both sides are eager for it to work out.

The indie film will portray Hillary in the early years of her career as a lawyer taking on the impeachment of President Richard Nixon and juggling her career and her relationship with Bill Clinton.

The script was written by Young Il Kim and is being produced by Richard Arlook in conjunction with Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen.

Carey is seriously hot in Hollywood right now! The young Brit has been named one of the most in-demand twentysomething actresses and landed leading roles in huge films like Drive, Never Let Me Go, Shame and The Great Gatsby (just to name a few).

We think she’s a dead ringer for Hillary and are crossing our fingers it works out.

Who would you like to see cast as a young Bill Clinton?!
