Boys? Who needs ’em?

GIRLS creator Lena Dunham decided to talk about Christopher Abbott, aka Charlie, leaving the super popular HBO series for the first time last week.

“I’ve had so many concerned Twitter followers ask: What are you going to do without Charlie?” Dunham said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times. “I want to say, ‘If the show Girls relied on guys, we’d be up a creek without a paddle.'”

Lucky for us, that’s not the case, and for Lena and the rest of the cast, the show must go on!

Abbott played Allison Williams’ character Marnie’s on-again-off-again boyfriend. At the end of Season 2, the volatile couple rekindled their old flame. Abbott’s absence means Dunham will now be tasked with finding a way to end their romance once and for all.

“Don’t worry,” she said. “I’ve tried to come up with an emotionally honest version of the end of that relationship.”

Rumor has it Christopher left the show due to creative differences with Dunham. “He’s sure the show will continue to do well, but as far as his character, he wasn’t behind where it was going to end up,” as source told Us Magazine. “He feels good about his decision.”

Many fans are worried about the effect his departure will have on the show, but we have faith that Lena and the rest of the cast will carry on without Charlie.

“It’s unfortunate that Abbott is no longer a part of the family,” Lena said. “The minute I heard the news, there wasn’t a single doubt in my mind that they would come up with great stuff for Marnie to be doing.”

We’re crossing our fingers and anxiously awaiting Season 3’s arrival,
