America has always been known as a melting plot, but not everyone is pleased about it.

A pair of Senate Republicans rolled out a “border surge” amendment that would provide more manpower, fencing and technology on the border with Mexico. Worries that the bill will not lock down illegal immigration fueled opposition to the bill, which would allow the 11 million people living in the country illegally to apply for U.S. citizenship.

The amendment by Sens. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., and John Hoeven, R-N.D., would devote $30 billion to nearly double the size of the Border Patrol to more than 40,000 agents; add $3.2 billion in drones, radars, sensors and planes to help detect people trying to cross the border; and complete 700 miles of fencing.

Sen. Jeff Session says he does not have a problem with immigrants, there just needs to be regulations implemented. “We believe in immigration. We want to be compassionate and helpful to people who have been here a long time,” Sessions said. “But we have got to have a system we can count on in the future.”
