Tupac Shakur lives on through his music once again.

According to Rolling Stone, the late great rapper’s songs are set to be featured in an upcoming Broadway musical called Holler If Ya Hear Me. The musical is a story about two childhood friends in a fictional Midwestern industrial city setting who are in conflict with struggle, trying to make their dreams a reality.

“Tupac was a prophet and I want everyone to see that,” director Kenny Leon – whose credits include A Raisin in the Sun and Fences – told Broadway.com. “[Holler if Ya Hear Me] is a present-day musical using all of Tupac’s music, but Tupac is not a character in the musical.”

And even though Pac will not make an appearance in the musical – in any way, shape, or form like he did at Coachella – his mother Afeni Shakur will produce the Broadway effort.

Holler If Ya Hear Me is currently in its workshop stages. Expect it to hopefully make a premiere during Broadway’s 2013-14 season.
