Cute and bubbly Ariana Grande graces the cover of Seventeen this August, and while she looks like she doesn’t have a care in the world in the photo shoot, it’s a completely different story inside the mag.

During her interview with the mag, “The Way” singer gave the dish of how it really went down while she filmed hit Nickelodeon show Victorious, which ended earlier this year in February.

We’ve all seen the Twitter shade between her and ex co-star Victoria Justice, but is it really true?

Seventeen reported this quote on her drama during “Victorious:”

I worked with someone who told me they’d never like me. But for some reason, I just felt like I needed her approval. So I started changing myself to please her. It made me stop being social and friendly. I was so unhappy.

But, Ariana took to her Tumblr to clear it up:

It’s my responsibility to clear up the drama today. I was misquoted in an interview and I’ve been very upset and disappointed all day. I was asked about bullying and I thought I’d share some of my personal experiences so that I could share how I over came it with my fans and hopefully be a help to the people who look up to me and are dealing with being bullied. However, unfortunately I was a little too vague in my interview and conclusions were drawn and fingers were pointed. My years filming Victorious were some of the HAPPIEST of my life and that cast is family to me. (The stories I were sharing were actually from 2008 when I was on Broadway. Was an amazing experience but a tough time for me.) Please please don’t send hate to anyone. It’s undeserved. The point of answering the question in the first place was to help those of you who are dealing with bullying, not to start drama. I apologize for the commotion. Love you guys VERY much. Thank you for being here for me and for supporting me.

Fortunately, she and her new Sam and Cat co-star Jennette McCurdy have been getting along quite well.

Working with Jennette:

I am so lucky to be working with Jennette McCurdy. She is a real, genuine, honest person, a good friend, and doesn’t care about all the superficial BS. She’s the most hilarious actress I’ve ever met and I just adore her…I used to watch iCarly and think, ‘Wow, Jennette is such a standout star and so good.’ Now she’s one of my best friends.

Playing the redheaded Cat:

I would never feel comfortable playing Cat with any other color hair than red, but I also feel most comfortable being myself with brown hair… I’m really nothing like my character—we’re both girly, but that’s about it. I’m very quiet; I don’t like to go out and party. So I get to be myself when I have brown hair and then I get to be Cat when I have red hair! It’s like a Hannah Montana life.

On taking three years to record her album:

“I’m a big perfectionist! I’m trying to channel super-confident women like Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey and Beyonce, because I realized that if you want something, you really have to go for it, just like they do.”

Despite the past drama and conflict she’s had, it looks to us like Ariana is doin’ big thangs! Check out the rest of the interview when it hits the stands July 2.
