Jay-Z performing at Times Square?

This is a rumor no more. According to RapRadar, Jay has been approved by Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s office to perform at Times Square for the David Letterman show on July 8th.

Man, that’s going to be fun.

From Madison Square Garden to Yankee Stadium, Jay-Z has rocked a lot of venues. But, if the rumor is true, this venue might be the biggest.

According to the NYPost, Jay-Z is planning to have a concert in Times Square. More specifically, the concert will take place atop the Ed Sullivan Theater.

If all goes to plan, the rapper will perform on July 8th, four days after Magna Carta Holy Grail drops, and, according to the Post’s source, “turn rush-hour Times Square into a gigantic street party.”

We say if all goes to plan, because nothing is final yet. Jay has to get clearance from the mayor’s office, something that might be problematic.

According to the Post’s source:

“They’ll have to shut down Broadway around the Letterman building. They’ll have to have a strong police presence. It’s going to be chaos with so many fans.”

Hov tried this stunt in 2010 but that was squashed. Hopefully that won’t happen again.
