We’re going to go on ahead and say Marc Jacobs has this marketing all planned out, and Kidult clearly has some travel miles to spare.

Last May, after Marc Jacobs’ New York City storefront was vandalized by infamous street artist Kidult with the word ART brazenly sprayed across the storefront, Marc Jacobs released a t-shirt depicting the aftermath of the art crime.

But it clearly didn’t end there. Kidult hit up Marc’s Paris store on Monday to finish what he started. This time, he wrote “686″ real big, referencing the price of the T-shirt Marc Jacobs sold following last year’s graffiti incident…and Marc isn’t taking it laying down, he’s laughing straight to the bank.

Marc Jacobs responded to the graffiti artist’s attack by tweeting to his followers: “Come by Paris Collection for the opening night installation of the new @therealkidult. We proudly support the arts.” Later that same day, Marc Jacobs tweeted images of new T-shirts screen printed with the above image, to be sold at the store for $686 “unsigned” and $430 “signed.”

There is often an anti-capitalism theme behind Kidult’s work, and he has been known to sell pictures of his work on t-shirts, however this time Marc beat him to it, with a 1700 percent mark up from Kidult’s usual $40 pricepoint. Also, if Kidult recreates the shirt, he can be sued for counterfeiting an item from Marc Jacobs.

Very tricky Marc!

We’ll see where this game goes from here.
