Wale’s new album The Gifted is expected to hit number one on the Billboard 200 chart next week.
According to Billboard, industry sources say the album is projected to sell 150,000 copies by June 30th, which is the end of the tracking week. The new Billboard 200 list will be revealed on July 3rd.
The Gifted will be Wale’s second top 10 album following his 2011 release Ambition.
Kanye West’s Yeezus holds the number one spot this week, so if Wale does go number one, it will be the first time rap albums topped the charts back-to-back since late 2011.
Earlier this week, Wale held an album release concert at the Best Buy Theater in New York City. The sold-out show featured appearances by DJ Khaled, Jadakiss, Styles P and Sheek Louch.
Wale also recently performed on the Late Show with David Letterman along with Roc Nation’s Same Dew. The two performed the soulful single “LoveHate Thing.”
